Abu Dhabi Economic Development Department

The Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi (DED) was founded in 2009, and is directly responsible for achieving Abu Dhabi’s sustainable development goals. As part of these efforts, the DED has adopted and initiated a range of initiatives geared towards fostering a knowledge-based economy, as well as organising and overseeing economic activities throughout the sector.

As the capital of one of the fastest-developing countries in the world, Abu Dhabi has a competitive and attractive economic-industrial ecosystem and a favourable investment climate. Since its establishment, the DED has worked tirelessly to advance these positive economic attributes in line with federal and international agendas. This includes the UAE Economic Vision 2021, which will celebrate the nation’s fiftieth anniversary with ambitious economic targets, and the United Nations’ sustainable development goals.

In this vein, the Hannover Messe and our national pavilion provide the perfect opportunity to showcase our achievements on a global stage and highlight current and future investment opportunities. From Abu Dhabi’s emerging small and medium enterprises to established free trade zones and manufacturers, our participation at Hannover Messe 2017 represents the depth and breadth of economic activity, investment opportunity and industrial productivity.

We are proud to present some of our start-ups and innovators that play a central role in securing the future of our economy by attracting external investment and adapting to the ever-changing global financial markets. Our ongoing Takamul initiative is an innovation support programme that encourages and facilitates applications of fresh Emirati technologies.

We encourage visitors to engage with our stand at hall 17.
